Importing bookmarks to Microsoft Edge browser makes it easy for you to get started. You can move your bookmarks to the new Edge browser or profile using the Import feature.
Here is how to move your bookmarks to Edge.
‘Favorites’ are Bookmarks
Edge calls bookmaks ‘Favorites‘. Apart from the name change, everything else is the same as Chrome bookmarks.
You can add, edit, delete, import or export bookmarks with Edge. You also have a bookmarks bar.
Importing Bookmarks (Favorites)
To import favorites aka bookmarks on Edge:
- Open a new tab and go to edge://favorites
- Click the three-dots menu next to the Add folder button.
- Select Import favorites.
- If the browser you want to import from appears in the list here, select Import next to its name.
- If you do not see the browser’s name, select the Choose what to import in the Import from other browsers section.
- On the Import browser data popup, select the profile to import from (ignore if you have only one profile on your source browser).
- Make sure that Favorites or bookmarks is checked. You can uncheck or uncheck any other information available to import.
- Select Import.
- Edge imports selected items and displays a confirmation message.
Importing Bookmarks from HTML file
If you have a backup of your bookmarks in .html format, you can import them to Edge. Complete the following steps:
- Open a new tab and go to edge://favorites
- Click the three-dots menu next to the Add folder button.
- Select Import favorites.
- On the Import browser data page, select the Choose what to import in the Import from other browsers section. The Import browser data popup appears.
- From the Import from drop-down, select Favorites or bookmarks HTML file.
- Select Favorites or bookmarks under Choose what to import.
- Select Choose file.
- Browse and select your html file and then select Import.
