Brilliant Chrome Tip – “Back To Top” From Bookmarksbar Without Extensions

Early morning here and I found this brilliant Chrome tip on Google Plus, a good way to start the day. There is no wonder this tip was invented while using Google Plus, the long never ending stream of posts makes it tough  to browse through and go back to the top of the page.

The trick here is to add a small link (not exactly a link! … just a piece of code) to the bookmarks bar of Chrome and use that to  come back to the top the page that you are browsing, easy, on click.

How to Do This

Right click on your bookmarks bar ( if its not showing now, press CTRL+SHIFT+B)

Select “Add Page”. Give a name for your link ( I gave “back to top” you are free to leave it blank too if you like it that way!)

In “URL” field, paste the following code  javascript:window.scrollTo(0,0);

Click “Ok” and you are good to go!! Scroll down to the bottom of a page and try clicking this link.

Thanks to Tony Ruscoe  for this awesome tip!

  1. Hmm. What’s the comparison between this bookmark and the “home” key?

  2. Not working for me…. 🙁
    I just now created the bookmark and tried to go back to the top on my gmail page but the bookmark is not working… Its just behaving like a button is clicked and nothing happens thereafter…. 🙁

  3. […] You can add, edit, delete, import or export bookmarks with Edge. You also have a bookmarks bar. […]
