How to Change Time on a Chromebook

Your Chromebook can automatically detect the location and change the time. You can manually change the time and date from Settings > Advanced > Date and time.

Manually change time

Time needed: 1 minute

To change the date and time on a Chromebook:

  1. Open the Settings app.

Go to the launcher and open the Settings app.

  2. Click and expand “Advanced”

From the left pane, click and expand the “Advanced” section.

  3. Click “Date and time”

Under the “Advanced” section, click “Date and time”.

  4. Click “Time zone”

Click the arrow icon against “Time zone”.

  5. Select “Choose from list”

To manually select a new time zone, click “Choose from list” and select the new time zone.

Changing the date and time from the Settings app will change it on the lock screen as well. You do not have to change that separately.

If you noticed the incorrect time on the Google Chrome browser, this should fix that issue as well.

  1. I am new to Chromebook, new laptop 2 weeks old. I have been a windows user for many years, so I am learning something new with Chromebook. One of things I miss is on the bottom task bar with windows you had not just the time but the date was there as well. I see the calendar in the in the launch bar but not the single date (i.e. 7/24/17). Can this be done on Chromebook?

Please email the answer to me as I don’t remember how I got here.

  2. I want to change the exact date on my chromebook but when I go into date and time nothing for the date pops up. It’s been getting on my nerves lately and I really wanna change it. Is there any way to change the date by the MONTH on Chrome OS?

  3. I want to change my EXACT TIME to a SPECIFICT time. Why can’t I do that.
