Chrome for iPhone and iPad now includes Gemini built into the address bar. Tap Page Tools at the top of Chrome, then Ask Gemini to chat about the page you are on, summarize it, or build an FAQ, all without leaving the browser.
This guide covers what you need before Gemini in Chrome shows up on your device, how to turn it on, what it can do, and why it might not appear yet.
What You Need Before You Start
Gemini in Chrome for iPhone and iPad is rolling out gradually. To use it, you need to be 18 or over and in a supported region, currently the United States with Chrome’s language set to English. You also need the latest version of Chrome from the App Store, and you must be signed in to your Google Account. It does not work in Incognito mode.
How Do You Turn On and Use Gemini in Chrome for iPhone?
- Update Chrome to the latest version from the App Store.
- Open Chrome and sign in with your Google Account if you have not already.
- Tap Page Tools at the top of the browser. On an eligible device, the Google Lens icon in the address bar changes to a Gemini icon.
- The first time you use it, follow the onscreen prompts to opt in to Gemini in Chrome.
- Tap Ask Gemini to start a chat about the page you are on.
By default, Gemini can see the page you currently have open, so you can ask questions about it directly. A floating chat box appears with suggested actions like Summarize Page, which gives you the key takeaways, and Create FAQ About This Topic, which builds FAQs from the page and similar sites. You can keep browsing while Gemini generates its answer and reopen the chat when it is ready.
You can also start a chat without Page Tools. Tap More in Chrome, then Ask Gemini, to open the same floating chat box from the browser menu.
