A Different Way to Open Chrome Tab Search

Google recently added down-arrow icon to open a tab search panel. Here is how it looks like:

You can use the keyboard shortcut, CTRL + SHIFT + A to open the panel. However, not everyone is happy with the new tab search icon.

Disabling the Icon

You can, at least for now, disable this tab search icon by selecting Disabled for the following flag:

tabsearch-toolbar-button

Go to chrome://flags, find the tabsearch-toolbar-button flag and select Disabled from the drop-down.

Another Method

What if you want to access this tab search panel without using the new icon?

Open a new tab and go to chrome://tab-search.top-chrome/

This opens up the tab search panel, only when you want. I bookmarked this page and added it to my bookmarks bar for quick access.
