How to Customize Mouse Buttons on Chromebook

Do you use an external mouse with your Chromebook? This article explains how to customize any additional buttons you have on your mouse.

My current mouse, a Logi Pebble, does not have any additional buttons save for the middle button. However, if you have additional buttons on your mouse, you can follow the same procedure and get customization options.

To customize your mouse on a Chromebook:

Open the Settings app.

Chromebook Settings App in Menu
Chromebook Settings App in Menu

From the left pane, select Device.

Chromebook Settings - Device

Under Device, select Mouse.

Mouse Settings - Chromebook

Now, select Customize Mouse Buttons.

You can now customize any additional buttons available for your mouse here.

Chromebook Mouse Button Options

Here are my options for the Logi Pebble:

  • Default
  • Volume on/off
  • Microphone on/off
  • Media Play/Pause
  • Overview
  • Screenshot
  • Previous Page
  • Next Page
  • Emoji Picker
  • High contrast on/off
  • Magnifier on/off
  • Dictation on/off
  • Left click
  • Right click
  • Middle click
  • Create key combination
  • Disable

I am going to set the middle button of my mouse to screenshot. That’ll come in handy when I write these guides for Chrome Story. What’s your choice? Let me know in the comments section.
