‘Collapse’ to Make Chrome’s Tab Groups More Useful

Google Chrome recently launched the Tab Groups feature in the Beta version of Chrome. While this new feature is widely available for users to test, the team is working on making Tab Groups even better.

According to a new flag spotted by Techdows, we will soon be able to collapse groups of tabs to save space.

Flag Name: Tab Groups Collapse

Description: Allows a tab group to be collapsible and expandable if tab groups are enabled. – Mac, Windows, Linux, Chrome OS

URL: chrome://flags/#tab-groups-collapse

How to Collapse a Tab Group

After enabling the flag, all you need to do is to click the Tab Group name to collapse it. Here is before and after pictures of how this will look like.

With this feature, you can not only group multiple tabs to organize your Chrome window, you can collapse them to save space. Whenever you need the group back, click the group name again, and you get all your tabs back.

I haven’t started using Tab Groups much. However, I can see how useful this is going to be when I start using them. Are you a Tab Groups fan? Do you find this new feature useful? Let me know in the comments section.
