How to Turn On or Off Chrome’s New 2026 Look

Chrome 150 rolled out a fresh redesign for Settings, Downloads, and Bookmarks pages. Here’s how to turn the new look on or off using Chrome flags.

Chrome 150 brought a fresh coat of paint to the browser. Settings, Downloads, Bookmarks, and other built-in pages now have new icons, smoother button animations, and updated colors. If you want to see the new look right away, or turn it off if it’s not for you, here’s how.

How to Switch the New Look On or Off

Note: Flags are experimental features and can make Chrome unstable. If Chrome behaves unexpectedly after enabling a flag, return to chrome://flags and click Reset all.

  1. Open Chrome and click the address bar.
  2. Type chrome://flags and press Enter.
  3. In the search box at the top of the page, type refresh. or glow up.
  4. Look for a flag with “refresh” or “redesign” in its name. Click the dropdown next to it.
  5. Choose Enabled to turn the new look on, or Disabled to turn it off.
  6. Click Relaunch at the bottom of the screen to restart Chrome.
  7. Open Settings, Downloads, or Bookmarks to see the change.

Quick Tips

  • Google is rolling this redesign out gradually. If you don’t see a matching flag, your version of Chrome may already have the new look built in with no toggle needed.
  • Not seeing the flag at all? Make sure Chrome is fully updated by going to Settings > About Chrome.
  • The new look only changes Chrome’s own pages, like Settings and Downloads. It doesn’t change how websites look.

Chrome’s new design is meant to feel cleaner and less cluttered, especially on pages you use every day like Settings and Downloads. Now you know how to switch it on to try it early, or turn it off if you’d rather stick with the classic look.
