How to Fix YouTube Lagging on Chrome

If YouTube feels slow or keeps buffering in Chrome, there are a few things you can do to fix it. These quick changes can help videos load faster and play more smoothly.

1. Clear Browsing Data

Too much old data can slow down video loading.
a. Open Chrome settings
b. Go to “Privacy and security”
c. Click “Clear browsing data”
d. Choose “Cookies and other site data” and “Cached images and files”
e. Click “Clear data”

2. Update Chrome

Make sure you’re using the latest version.
a. In Chrome, go to Help > About Google Chrome
b. Chrome will check for updates automatically
c. Restart the browser if needed

3. Disable Unused Extensions

Some extensions may interfere with video playback.
a. Go to chrome://extensions
b. Turn off anything you don’t use often

4. Turn Off Hardware Acceleration

b. Select “Quality”
c. Choose 480p or lower

8. Pause Background Tabs and Apps

Close other tabs or programs that use the internet.
This frees up more bandwidth for YouTube.

9. Restart Your Router

Restart your Wi-Fi router and try again.
