Accidentally Removed Thumbnail from Chrome’s New Tab Page?

Unfortunately, once you remove a most visited site from Chrome’s new tab page, there’s no direct “undo” button. But here are a few ways you can bring it back:

Method 1: Visit the Site Repeatedly

Chrome auto-generates your most visited sites based on browsing history.

  1. Visit the site multiple times over the next day or two.
  2. It should automatically reappear on the new tab page.

Method 2: Add It Manually as a Shortcut

Add Shortcut to Chrome

If you don’t want to wait:

  1. Open a new tab in Chrome.
  2. Hover over the “+ Add shortcut” button below the search bar.
  3. Click it, then:
    • Name: Give the shortcut a name.
    • URL: Enter the site’s address (e.g., https://example.com).
  4. Click Done.

Method 3: Clear the Hidden Sites

Chrome hides removed sites in its local data. You can reset this:

⚠️ This will remove all most visited thumbnails and start fresh.

  1. Close Chrome.
  2. Open File Explorer and go to:
    • C:\Users\<YourUser>\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default
  3. Delete the file: Top Sites
  4. Restart Chrome.

Now, visit your favorite sites again, and Chrome will start rebuilding your most visited list.
