Google is adding a dedicated “Appearance” section in Chrome Settings in Android. There are no new features in this section for nonow, but the change makes navigating Settings easier.
‘Appearance Section’
Yes, the Appearance section makes an appearance on Android. In the latest version of Chrome on Android, Canar, you’ll get the following flag:
Appearance Settings: Enables the Appearance Settings preference screen
Enabling this flag and restarting Chrome adds a new Appearance section to the Settings page.

When you go inside this new section, currently you have two options:
Theme and Toolbar shortcut. If there are additional appearance-related toggles or controls in the settings app somewhere, eventually they will be moved here.

If you go inside the Theme section, you’ll get the familiar checkboxes to choose Light, Dark, or the System Default.

Similarly, the toolbar shortcut section lets you customize icons on Chrome’s toolbar.

Is this a step towards streamlining Chrome settings on Android and bringing it closer to how Desktop settings are organized? Or, do you think Google has plans to add additional customization options to Chrome on Android?
Themes maybe?
