How to Always Get Desktop Version of Websites on Chrome on Android

Google Chrome on Android now has a permanent switch to request the desktop versions of websites. In this article, I will show you how to enable this feature.

Always Get Desktop Version of Websites

When you visit a website using your mobile phone, Chrome shows you the mobile version of the website. However, there could be situations where you need to view the desktop version of the website on your mobile.

You can use the checkbox available in the Chrome menu to view the desktop version of the website. This, however, is temporary. What if you want to visit the desktop version of the website all the time?

Chrome recently added a way to enable desktop version of all websites, all the time. Here is how to enable it.

Open the Chrome menu by tapping the three-dots icon on the top-right corner.

Scroll down to the bottom of the menu and choose Settings.

Now select Site settings.

Now choose Desktop site.

The last step is to enable the desktop site toggle on.

With this toggle on, you get the desktop version of any website you visit.

  1. I would like to have a feature like this only for websites I choose to

Yes, I think that was the ideal way to implement this feature.

Hi, yes, I usually post things well in advance 🙂

  2. I just tried it and I don’t have the option of Desktop Site. I have Samsung s21 with the latest update

  3. Hello:

    I have a question…

NOT on enabling desktop version of ALL websites, all the time (#request-desktop-site-GLOBAL) — but on the related Flag (#request-desktop-site-EXCEPTIONS) described by Android as “An option in `Site settings` to request the desktop version of websites based on site level settings. Flag request-desktop-site-global needs to be enabled when enabling this flag.”

QUESTION: Does enabling both give the option of forcing SPECIFIC websites to ALWAYS use the desktop version (while all others use the mobile version)? *

    Much Appreciation.

    * If my interpretation is correct, then I will proceed with determining WHY the OPTION to specify a website in “Site Settings” is not apparent…

  4. I’m another who doesn’t have that option at all. I’ve looked in all the likely other places.

  5. I have a brand new Acer 714 Chromebook and it seems to be missing this “desktop” option in settings. Also missing is the “create desks “option, which should be on the show all page nor is there a “save desk for later” option. Are they somewhere hidden on the 714?
