Step 1: Open your favorite web browser and go to https://gmail.com.
Step 2: Click Create an account.
Step 3: Enter your First name and Last name.
This helps people identify you when you send emails.
Step 3: Pick a username. This is your email address.
This must be a username that is not already in use.
How to choose a username
If you enter a username already in use, Google will ask you to change it when you move to the next step.
You can use letters, numbers, and periods—for example, firstname.lastname or firstname2020.
Google will show you recommendations based on your first and last name.
Step 4: Enter a password.
You will use this password to access your account.
Use a word or phrase that is difficult to guess but easy to remember. Include numbers and extra characters if possible.
Do not use your name or birthday as a password.
Step 5: Confirm your password.
Enter the same password one more time in the Confirm field.
To view the password as you type it, click the eye icon next to the Confirm field.
Step 6: Click Next.
Step 7: Verify your phone number.
The country drop-down automatically shows the national flag based on your current location.
If required, change the country from the drop-down.
Step 8: Click Verify.
Step 9: Provide a recovery email address.
This is useful if you ever forget your password. Google can send a password reset link to your recovery email address.
This is optional.
Step 10: Provide your birthday.
Provide the date, month, and year of your birth.
Step 11: Select gender your gender from the dropdown.
Your options are:
- Male
- Female
- Rather not say
- Custom
Step 12: Click Next.
Step 13: Click Yes I’m in to use your phone number with other Google services.
This is optional. Click Skip to move to the next screen if you are not interested.
Step 14: Review the privacy policy and click I agree.
Your new Gmail account is now ready to use.
