How to Use Google Now on Your Chromebook

Google Now is officially available on Chromebooks. Here is a quick guide on how to use Google Now from the Chrome OS launcher app.

  • Click the three dots icon on the top left corner of each card for settings specific to the card.
  • Click the refresh icon at the bottom of the screen to refresh your Google Now cards.

Disable Google Now on a Chromebook

Here is how you disable Google Now, just in case.

  1. Click the numbered icon (example: ) in the lower right corner of your computer screen.
  2. In the Notifications Center, click the gear icon on the bottom right corner.
  3. Uncheck the box next to “Google Now”.

  1. Sure I’ll drop a message. None of the Chromies in our community on Google+ has Google Now inside the new launcher. It’s still inside the notifications and it’s only basic Google Now, like weather, sports and calendar stuff.

    1. Interesting, we have three Chromebooks in our household, and only one of them has the Google Now in the launcher, and that’s despite the fact that two machines have the same accountholder. So I imagine this is being rolled out slowly to individual computing units, not just to accounts.

Thanks guys… yes, this is being rolled out, very slowly.

  3. If you see Google Now in your launcher, can you right click within it (on an empty space between the cards, say) and select View source? If so, what is the URL that it opens? I want it on my computer as well, why do I have to use a mobile device or a Chromebook in order to see all of the Google Now cards? 🙁

  4. I keep looking but not on mine. Perhaps its because I’m the wrong side of the pond.

  5. “To access Google Now, click the Search icon and open the app launcher.” Hmm. You mean open Apps and click on Google Search? I don’t get it and I don’t see it either. Although I do have the ability to disable in the Notif Center. Sorry if I’m being dense. Thanks.

I fail to use google now on my chromebook pixe 2013(Dev channel OS 46)

  7. Don’t have cards at the bottom of my launcher screen, and don’t have Google Now in the notifications list, so in spite of the title of this article “how-to-use-google-now-on-your-chromebook”, it does not deliver. HP Chromebook 14
