How to Stop Notifications from Websites in Edge

Websites often ask for permission to show notifications in Edge. Some are useful, like email alerts or news updates. Others quickly become annoying. You can control which sites are allowed, block future requests, or turn off all notifications.

Here’s how to do it:

1. Stop Sites from Asking for Notification Permission

1. Open Edge.
2. Click the three-dot menu > Settings.
3. Go to Privacy Search and services.
4. Scroll down and click Site permissions.
5. Now, select All permissions and then select Notifications.
6. Turn off Ask before sending (recommended).

This blocks all sites from showing notification permission pop-ups.

2. Block or Allow Notifications from Specific Sites

If you want notifications from only a few sites:

1. Follow the steps above to reach Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Notifications.
2. Under Allow, click Add to enter sites you trust.
3. Under Block, add sites you want to silence.

You can also remove any site from either list by clicking the trash icon.

3. Turn Off Notification Sounds

Edge lets you mute notification sounds while still showing them:

In the Notifications settings, turn off Play a sound when a notification arrives.

4. Clear Existing Permissions

If you’ve already allowed too many sites:

1. Go to Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Site permissions > All permissions > Notifications.
2. Scroll through the list of allowed sites.
3. Click the three-dot icon next to each and choose Remove.
