Google is adding a new ‘Compose’ button to Chrome’s new tab page, bringing it right and center to your Chrome experience.
A new Chrome flag showed up in the Chromium code last week but didn’t do anything till today:
NTP Compose Box – Shows the Compose button on the New Tab Page Searchbox.
As of today, I can see the Compose button on the new tab page. However, I cannot do anything with it, yet.
So, why am I writing this article to share the news?
Mostly because of the placement of this new compose button – right next to big search field in the new tab page.

This is how it might work. You will type your prompt similar to your search query. Instead of search, you will ask Chrome to compose.
For example, you might type ‘write an email to apply for leave’ and then hit Compose. Chrome can then help you write the email for you.
That’s my best guess at the moment. Being where it is, and being built into Chrome, there are endless possibilities on how this could work. I’ll keep a close watch on this feature as Google enables the button. Check back this page for more updates, coming soon your way.
