These popups happen because Chrome lets extension developers show a “first-run” page. They often use it to explain features, but it can feel spammy.
Right now, there’s no global Chrome flag or policy that blocks all these tabs. But turning off sync and trimming down unused extensions usually helps.
1. Turn Off Extension Sync
Chrome sync may be re-installing your extensions every time you log in, which triggers the popups.

a. Open Chrome.
b. Go to chrome://settings/syncSetup/advanced.
c. Turn off the toggle next to Extensions.
This will stop Chrome from syncing extensions between devices.
2. Use Fewer Extensions
Each extension gets a chance to open a welcome page after it’s installed or re-installed. If you have many extensions, it’ll happen more often.
a. Go to chrome://extensions.
b. Review all installed extensions.
c. Remove any you don’t use often.
Fewer extensions mean fewer popups.
3. Check If You’re Using Guest Mode or Temporary Profiles
These modes reinstall extensions every time, which brings up the intro tabs.
a. Make sure you’re signed into a normal Chrome profile.
b. Avoid using guest mode if you want consistent browser settings.
4. Try an Extension That Blocks Tabs on Startup
You can use custom startup extensions or scripts to block tabs, but this method is hit-or-miss and not officially supported.
