The “Forbidden” error in Google Chrome means the website is blocking the file from downloading. This can happen if the website restricts access, your browser blocks the download, or the file is on a protected server.

Let’s see what to do about it. Also, remember this. When Chrome says the download is forbidden, it is a good time to stop and think if you trust the site and the file is safe to download.

What to Do About “Forbidden” Download Error

The “Forbidden” error in Google Chrome means the website is blocking the file from downloading. This can happen for several reasons:

  • The website restricts access.
  • Your browser blocks the download.
  • The file is on a protected server.

Try these methods to fix the issue:

1. Check Website and Permissions

Some websites block downloads unless you’re logged in or have permission.

  1. Log in to the website and try downloading the file again.
  2. If the file is restricted, contact the website administrator.

2. Try a Different Browser

If Chrome blocks the download, another browser may work.

  1. Open the website in Firefox, Edge, or another browser.
  2. Try downloading the file.
  3. If the download works, the issue is Chrome-specific.

9. Use an Alternate Download Method

Some websites restrict downloads based on the method used.
