Fix the “dns_probe_finished_nxdomain” Error in Google Chrome

This error means Chrome can’t find the website you’re trying to reach. It usually happens due to DNS issues. Try these fixes.

Restart Your Internet Connection

  1. Turn off your modem and router.
  2. Wait 30 seconds.
  3. Turn them back on and check if the issue is resolved.

Flush the DNS Cache

  1. Press Win + R, type cmd, and press Enter.
  2. In the Command Prompt, type: ipconfig /flushdns
  3. Press Enter and restart Chrome.

Change Your DNS Server

  1. Press Win + R, type ncpa.cpl, and press Enter.
  2. Right-click your active network and select Properties.
  3. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties.
  4. Choose Use the following DNS server addresses.
  5. Enter a new set of DNS servers. You can use Google Public DNS. Read more here.
  6. Click OK and restart your computer.

Reset Chrome Flags

Relaunch Chrome
Relaunch Chrome
  1. Open Chrome.
  2. Type chrome://flags/ in the address bar and press Enter.
  3. Click Reset all.
  4. Restart Chrome.

Disable VPN or Proxy

  1. Press Win + R, type inetcpl.cpl, and press Enter.
  2. Go to the Connections tab and click LAN settings.
  3. Uncheck Use a proxy server for your LAN.
  4. Click OK and restart your computer.
