Using Chrome Extensions

Extensions simplify URL shortening by integrating directly into the browser. Two popular options include:

Bitly Extension

After installation, log in or sign up for a Bitly account. Click the Bitly icon in Chrome’s toolbar to instantly shorten the URL of your current page. Copy the shortened link for easy sharing.

TinyURL Extension

This extension lets you shorten URLs with a single click. Open the page you want to shorten, click the TinyURL icon, and the link is instantly ready to copy.

    Using Online Services

If you prefer not to install extensions, web-based URL shorteners work seamlessly:

    1. Visit a service like bitly.com or tinyurl.com.
    2. Paste your long URL into the provided field.
    3. Click the “Shorten” button to generate a compact link.

    Tips

    • Use URL shorteners with analytics features like Bitly to track link performance.
    • Check permissions of extensions to ensure your privacy and security.

With these tools, Chrome users can shorten URLs efficiently, making them ideal for sharing on social media or within emails.

The title is completely misleading. These Chrome extensions DO NOT use Chrome for creating a shortened URL! These extensions are simply mechanisms to use their respective cloud service.

      I won’t follow anymore.

Thank you for your feedback. I’ll still disagree. You cannot use Chrome extensions independently to do something like this. You are “extending” Chrome features.

It might be worth mentioning that neither of these services are free.
