It is 2023 (well, almost 2024) and all the major operating systems have built-in ‘Focus Mode” to help you avoid digital distractions and get stuff done. In a future release Chrome OS also introduce a built-in focus mode.

Focus Mode for Chromebooks
As usual, focus mode first showed up in Chromium OS Gerrit as an experimental flag this morning:
Focus Mode on ChromeOS – Focus mode on the OS with timer and task management functionalities.
I could also find the message you will see on the system tray when you switch on focus mode:
“Set a timer and task to focus”
How will this feature work?
Android currently has focus mode you can enable from the notification try. It lets you choose applications block while in this mode. You can block everything or only chat applications or social media apps and so on.
Chrome OS is likely to follow the same method. The Focus Mode icon will appear in the system tray. You can quickly enable or disable using a single click.
You might also see a list similar to the noficiation controls to choose which apps or websites can send notifications while you are in focus mode.

It might take a while before we can test this feature in the Chrome OS canary channel. Stay tuned to updates, screenshots and detailed instructions.
