Make Chrome and Android Use Different Languages

You can soon make Chrome and your Android phone use two different languages.

Decouple Language

Have you ever tried making Chrome use a different language than your phone? For example, keep your Android phone using English as a system language to display UI elements and let Chrome use, say, Spanish?

The latest Canary version of Chrome on Android has a flag to let you do this.

Detailed Language Settings: Enable the new detailed language settings page – Android

Enable this flag and restart Chrome to get started.

Change Language on Chrome

So, how do you change your language now?

  1. Tap the three-dots icon on the top-right corner and choose Settings.
  2. Tap Languages.
  3. From the three-dots menu next to your preferred language, choose Use as Chrome’s language.

Google Chrome will now start using this new language as the default language.
