Chromebooks Getting Microphone Gain Controls

According to a code commit that we spotted today, Chromebooks might be getting “mic gain sliders” in the system tray.

Chromebooks currently do not have an option to control the gain. This is a feature that allows you to control how the microphone handles the audio.

Enables sliders for setting mic gain levels in the more audio settings
// section in the system tray.

The code change request talks about “Add sliders to modify mic gain in system tray”. Further, we were able to find an experimental flag that defines this as a feature that “Enables sliders for setting mic gain levels in the more audio settings // section in the system tray.”

When this feature is ready, you will be able to click the microphone icon (or the headphones icon) and change the microphone’s gain levels.

Here is how this section looks like now:

Sounds like a feature that you might use? Let us know in the comments section.
