You Will Soon Be Able to Drag Tabs From Chrome to Other Browsers and Vice Versa

Google Chrome is preparing a feature that will allow users to drag and drop tabs to and from any other browser that supports tabs.

The Flag -Mix browser type tabs

The latest version of Chrome Canary channel has a new flag to test this feature:

Name: Mix browser type tabs

Description: Allows tabs to be dragged between any browsers that support tabs, including apps – Mac, Windows, Linux, Chrome OS

URL: chrome://flags/#mix-browser-type-tabs

This feature seems to be in the very early stages of its development. It did not seem to be working on the current version of Chrome Canary. The version that we tested this feature on is 80.0.3948.0 (Official Build) canary (64-bit).

We tested dragging tabs between the latest version of Chromium, the Stable version of Chrome and even Safari. It is possible that the team added the experimental flag to this version, but a code changes are still pending or incomplete. We will update this article as soon as this feature becomes functional.

You can also expect a video demo of this feature on Chrome Story’s YouTube channel here.

How do you think this feature will work in the backend?
