Chrome to Get “Tab Groups” to Organize Tabs Better

Update: Tab groups will sync across devices.

Google is working on a “Tab Groups” feature to help users “visually organize tabs”. This is in the very early stages of development and might take a while to see in action.

The bug associated with this change was added five days ago and states its objective as “Users can organize tabs into visually distinct groups, e.g. to separate tabs associated with different tasks”.

I found the flag name and description in the code change request submitted yesterday, but that’s all we have as of now.

Tab Groups – “Organize tabs into visually distinct groups, e.g. to separate tabs ” “associated with different tasks.”

There are extensions with limited tab grouping features, but we have never seen a built-in tab grouping/organizing feature from the Chrome team.

I’ll have to wait for the flag to show up at least in the Canary version of Chrome to test it and show you how the new Tab Groups will work.

Stay tuned for more on this!
