Chromebook’s Set Up Screen Gets Material Design Makeover

You now know the whole news from the post title up there. Now let me tell you why this is very interesting piece of news for me. On a normal computer, you go through the set up process only once. You actually never want to set up the same computer again because it means a lot of work.

On a Chromebook, it is a different story. I powerwash my Chromebook occasionally and get back to work the normal mode within minutes. And that makes this redesigned OOBE (Out-Of-Box Experience) screen is a welcome addition.

Here is how it looks like:

How to Try This Now

First, you need the developer channel of Chrome OS. And a note, before you start, there is a powerwash ahead.

Go ahead and powerwash your Chromebook. When you are on the sign on page, press <Ctrl>+<Shift>+<Alt>+W to switch to this new OOBE. You can press the same key combination again to switch back to the old UI.

Alright, go ahead and try it if you want to check this out. For others, wait for few more weeks and you will have this ready and waiting for you on your next powerwash. Now, let me go give this a try!
