Android Apps on Chromebooks; Toshiba Leaks a Few Things We Already Know

Toshiba has leaked a couple of things about Android apps on Chrome OS. We know about most of these things already, but I still find these two tidbits interesting.

We already know that Chrome OS is getting Android apps. We know about the a bunch of official ports, and about hacks that let us port any Android app to Chrome OS, hacks that let us port any Android app to Chrome OS. Toshiba’s website has some more stuff on this.

Take a look at this screenshot first:

Now, let us concentrate first on the phrase “Android Synergy”

Synergy: the interaction of elements that when combined produce a total effect that is greater than the sum of the individual elements, contributions, etc.; synergism.

Is this an official phrase, the name that Google is going to call the Chrome OS + Android thing? Or is this something that Toshiba’s PR guys came up with?

Second thing is more exciting to me than the first. Flipboard is listed as one of the apps coming to Chrome OS. Well, I love Flipboard! That was the only app that I used to test the Chrome OS port. If the next wave of Android apps includes Flipboard,  I’ll call it AWESOME!

But for now, this is just a leak. We will have to wait and watch to see how this goes.
