Google Chrome Linux
I know, I am reporting this very late, for again, I cant miss this news, even though I am late. So, here it goes, if you are yet to read about this.
Google Chrome for Linux is finally ready for beta. Like the Windows version, it’s fast, secure, stable, simple, extensible, and embraces open standards like HTML5.
I have been using Google Chrome on Ubuntu, from the day one of the Development version release. It was fun, and recently I got flash and extensions working on it. So, beta release is not much of an excitement for me personally, but this marks another milestone in the Chrome’s Story
For those who waited for the release of Beta release, of Linux to try it, here is the download link. Enjoy and come back to give feedback as comments !
Do not worry about the beta label on google products, ok ? they keep things on beta for a looooong time. So, start using Chrome for Linux today.
Yes, it’s almost there. Google Chrome themes official themes gallery page is being set up. We will see it going online very soon. I got really excited when I saw this news on Techcrunch. Why ? you know that I love everything about Google Chrome, right ?
Techcrunch says that they found the theme gallery while deleting some thumbnails from the new sexy new tab page. Well, I did try that on Windows XP, Windows 7 and Ubuntu, and I can also confirm that this is true. So, What’s the URl where you find this new theme gallery for Chrome ? Go here. You will see a 404 not found page there now. But, with the next dev update or stable update, you can see the gallery live.
Until now, installing new theme or changing to the default one was really tough. You should download theme theme file, and place it inside a particular folder, and then try to change it etc. But, when the new theme gallery is live, you will see new themes being installed and uninstalled in few mouse clicks. Plus, you get a single web page to browse a large themes database.
So, wait for the next news from me, when everything is ready, and live. Happy Google Chrome Hours for you all !!
And finally ….. sorry, I feel I need to add another “finalllyyyy” ( because, it took sooo long ) we have official releases of Google Chrome Linux and Mac OSX.
But wait, why am I so excited ? There is no need to be that much excited yet, since this is a developer version, where you can bugs, crashes and a lot of other issues, and missing features, but still, it makes me happy if not excited. Now, the funniest thing, they have added “don’t download” in caps, on the release post !! check this
In order to get more feedback from developers, we have early developer channel versions of Google Chrome for Mac OS X and Linux, but whatever you do, please DON’T DOWNLOAD THEM! Unless of course you are a developer or take great pleasure in incomplete, unpredictable, and potentially crashing software.
