mulitiple google accounts

Gmail, Google Reader, Google Analytics, and a lot more we are with Google all the time. If you a single account, managing it on a personal computer is not tough, for  someone who keep your Google account password saved on the browser.

Things get complicated when you have more than one Google account. Switching between these accounts will be a little tiring task. Here is an extension that will let you switch accounts fast, if you are ready to let it save your passwords.

Configure your Google account credentials in Quick Google (QG). Access this extension to login to any of the configured accounts from then on, with a single click. Quick Google will also make the login easier if you stumble upon on any Google login pages by showing a Sign-in Assistant with a list of configured accounts in the login page.

The extension is basically a form filler, but designed to work with Google Accounts. Install the extension from here and more info available here.

Update : Another popular Google Account Switch Plugin here.

Note from the developer about your passwords

Your account password, which is optional, is stored encrypted in your local storage. Technically, local storage is accessible only by the extension. Quick Google will not be responsible for the security of the local storage.

Google Analytics is free service offered by Google for webmasters and blog owners to track details about their visitors. It is a very useful tool for monitoring site traffic and it gives a pretty neat report.

google analytics

Well, that’s for the webmaster/blogger. What about you, the visitor ? Google Analytics is collecting some data about your browsing behavior using a small javascript. This is something that many of them are concerned about. Google now offers an option for you to opt out of this tracking, or tell the website with google analytics not to collect data about you.

Google has built a Chrome Extension to make this easier. Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on. Simply install this extension, and you are good. The add-on communicates with the Google Analytics JavaScript (ga.js) to indicate that information about the website visit should not be sent to Google Analytics.

For all those who take extreme care about their online activities, here you go

chrome apps store

note : learn how to change to dev version here. Also, please note that these features are still under development and not final.

Google Chrome has been shipping with 3 basic apps built-in for sometime now. We will load them manually for us to play with. 1. Gmail 2. Google Calender and 3. Google Docs.

Step 1 : Add the following line of code to the command line properties –enable-apps (how to here )

Step 2 : Go to chrome://extensions on Chrome

Step 3 : Click on “Load Unpacked Extension

Step 4 : If you are using windows, browse through C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application\6.0.453.1\Resources

Step 5 : Click on the folder names – docs_app, calender_app and gmail_app ( Do this three times to load all three apps )

Step 6 : Now, open your New Tab page !

Now you can enjoy the new applications with a lovely pinned tab-like UI. However, this feature is not fully developed. I tried a test chat on Gmail app, and it didn’t give me any notification about new chat message being received. Now, let me go back to testing playing.

Google Chrome team pushed the integrated flash player to stable version today. This means 100% of google chrome users will start using this feature from today. But, is there a way to disable it ? Yes there is !

Google Chrome Built in Flash Player

Visit chrome://plugins/ on your Google Chrome Browser. ( Type in the addressbar )

Now, look for the Shockwave Flash plugin
click on “Disable” next to it.
Chrome will now  fall back to the system-installed version of Flash Player, if it exists.

Wasn’t that easy ?

How to Enable Side Tabs on Google Chrome

by chrome story on June 25, 2010 · 11 comments

Would like to have tabs on left side, on Google Chrome ? Well, you can do that, with a small line of code as of now, and probably without it soon when its added to the browser.

chromeium_sidebar

Right Click on the Chrome icon on your Desktop
Select “Properties”
In “Target” box, add the following line of code at the end
–enable-vertical-tabs

Restart chrome.
Right click on any tab, and select “Use Side Tabs”

Now you have all your tabs on the sidebar, right click on the tab again and uncheck “Use Side Tabs” to bring your tabs back to the default style, in case you did not like it ;)

ps: Thanks 1PAEz, for this tip !! for quite sometime now, we have many blog posts that came as tips from readers, guest posts by readers etc, thanks for all your love people !!!!
