Google Chrome Hardware Acceleration

Hardware Acceleration is coming soon, to Chrome Dev Builds and later to beta and stable versions. Here is a quick how to – from ReadWriteWeb to try this right now !

Google Chrome Hardware Acceleration in simple words, means this. Google Chrome, will let web applications use your computer’s processing power to function. It will allow the browser bring you more graphics heavy content like 3D games.

Yes, it is outsourcing of processing power in some way !! – so here goes your chrome dish of the day !

You will need The Dev Version or Canary Build to test this.

Once installed, you need to run the application with the –enable-accelerated-compositing flag. To do so, you can either run the program from the terminal and set this switch by hand, or – in Windows – check the properties for the executable and append the flag to the target in the properties dialog.

Chances are that you won’t notice too much of a difference right now, though you will probably notice some speed-ups while viewing highly complex pages.
