Missing Features : Clearing Cache on Exit, and Print Preview

by Dinu on 11/03/2009

I was browsing the Google Chrome Help Forum, and found two important threads, where users were demanding two features. They were two important features, which we do not have on Google Chrome yet.

1. Clearing Cache on Exit.

We want to be safe, wherever we are. Internet is no different. We want our browsing experience be safe and secured. Even though most of the websites take extreme care about security, it is always good to do our part of the job too. Clearing the cache after performing any important online task is such a step that we can take. By clearing cache  you are erasing your personal information from the browser.

We may not be able to do this each time we finish browsing.. right ?  So, the best thing to do is to have an option to clear cache automatically, each time you close the browser. You might have noticed this feature on Firefox. So, this is an important feature that we need to look for, on future updates of Google Chrome.

2. Print Preview

I have seen people looking at print previews a few times before printing any Word Document that they created.  Its a step required to make sure that the pint is perfect. If you are doing this much for a document created yourself, what about a web page someone else created with html, css , php, asp etc ? We really need to know what the print is going to be like right ? What if we don’t have a print preview ? This is another feature that we need to see in future updates of Google Chrome.

you can actually make chrome not save any information. Start it automatically in incognito mode. Right click a google chrome icon, properties, at the target enter
“-incognito” at the very end. Then click apply. Now when you click the icon google chrome starts in incognito mode every time.

Nice one,

Home Chrome and the Chromium team will take consideration of that in the coming versions of Chrome.

I use incognito mode for online transactions though.

@ Chrome Story,

Sure, there’s an unofficial version of chrome called ChromePlus which is Chrome with additional features like clearing cache after closing the browser.

But again, it’s not google’s release so we shouldn’t take it into serious secure browsing.
