People need more privacy. Opening new tab as a blank page is a popular demand among Google Chrome users. Unfortunately, this is not added as a feature yet. But don’t worry. We have a new workaround for this. A simple shortcut.
1. Type [about:blank] or [javascript:window.open("about:blank");void(0)] into your browser window
2. Make this a bookmark on your bookmark bar
When you open a new tab, click on this bookmark and not the regular new tab button. This will give you a blank tab. It’s that simple !! Go .. try this now !
I am Google Chrome fan and you guys know that. Now, I am also a fan of Ubuntu too. I am blogging from a Ubuntu laptop right now. But, I really miss Google Chrome when I switch from Windows to Linux, which I have to do most of the times. I started using Linux with my first job, and then extended it to my personal computing too. I can work very fast when I am on a Linux Computer.
Google Chrome is another thing that helps me do my work faster. It’s going to be great if you combine Ubuntu with Google Chrome.
Rumour has it that Google is going to release Linux and Mac version of Chrome by May 2009. Two more months … hmm ok, and it’s a rumor too. I can’t make myself wait 2 more months because of a rumor. I am going to try installing Chrome on Linux with Wine.
There are two ways of making Chrome work on Linux. First method, is installing Chromium, ( the project that Google Chrome is based on ). Second method is installing Chrome using WINE.
Whenever I browse the Google Chrome Help forum, I find more and more feature requests. These requests are more in number than actual issues reported there, sometimes I feel that way. This is not something really bad, this happens because people really want to use Google Chrome. They are ready to use it, and they demand more because they feel they “need” it.
A popular demand about Google Chrome : Ability to disable images on a website, or loading webpages without images to save bandwidth. It should not take much of work to enable this feature. But, we are yet to see this feature on Google Chrome.
